Export employee hours without changing payroll providers

Download reviewed worked-hour records as CSV and hand them to the person who already runs your payroll.

A clean handoff, not a payroll replacement

Gates Timekeeping records time and helps organize the review. It does not calculate payroll taxes, issue paychecks, file returns or send direct deposits. Keep the payroll provider and professional advice that fit your business.

Start with the right dates

Create or select the pay period, complete missing clock-outs and check each record before approving it. Entries that cross a pay-period boundary need particular attention. The export should not be treated as a payroll authorization by itself.

Understand what is in the file

The pilot export focuses on employee identifiers, names and recorded worked hours. Breaks recorded as unpaid are reflected in the total. It deliberately does not promise a universal overtime calculation or a direct, vendor-specific import. Your payroll provider must apply the correct workweek, pay rules and any additional compensable time.

Test the handoff with your bookkeeper

Use sample records first. Confirm the CSV opens correctly, columns are interpreted as expected and employee names map to the right payroll accounts. A generic CSV is not the same as a tested direct integration with QuickBooks, Gusto, ADP or Paychex.

Questions from small teams

Is there a direct payroll integration?

Not in the verified pilot. You download a CSV; confirm your payroll system’s import requirements separately.

Are overtime and taxes calculated?

No universal wage or tax calculation is promised. The primary export reports recorded worked hours for review by your payroll process.

Can I export without approved entries?

Use the reviewed, approved workflow for normal payroll preparation. A manager can inspect unapproved records separately.
