A sensible bill starts with a sensible scope
Choose the employee timekeeping you need before buying a broader HR suite. Gates focuses on individual clock-ins, recorded breaks, employee visibility, manager review and worked-hours exports for teams of 1–30. Payroll taxes, employee benefits and certified payroll are not part of that offer.
The proposed launch rates are $15/month for up to 10 employees and $35/month for up to 30. Current early access is free; these are not active subscription charges. Compare an actual quote using your own headcount and requirements.
See the record behind the number
A weekly total is more useful when someone can explain the shift entries behind it. Ask the reviewer to check open clock-outs and correction questions before approving hours. Keep a responsible person in charge of the handoff.
Start without a hardware project
Use existing appropriate phones or computers for the authenticated browser clock. Test a small group and verify connectivity where people actually work. The pilot is not a shared PIN kiosk or a production-certified offline app.
A buying checklist you can finish
Compare the annual bill, required features, onboarding work, export and exit process. Use the cost calculator for the arithmetic. Then work through a sample shift and correction before making your current payroll process depend on a new application.
Questions from small teams
Does this replace my payroll company?
No. Gates organizes recorded employee hours. Your provider and payroll process still apply pay rules, taxes and payments.
