Make timecard corrections understandable

Keep a reason and a record when a manager changes a time entry.

An edit needs context

A changed timestamp should not be a mystery. Use a correction reason that explains the factual issue, such as a forgotten clock-out confirmed with the employee. Avoid speculative or accusatory notes.

Review the result

After an adjustment, check the entry’s duration and approval status. The administrative audit view helps review changes, but it does not replace payroll policies, required record retention or professional advice.

Keep the conversation fair

Time records affect people. Establish a predictable way for employees to see a discrepancy, explain what happened and receive a response before the pay-period handoff.

Questions from small teams

Is this a compliance certification?

No. An edit history is a useful product control, not a certification that your timekeeping or payroll practices comply with every law.
