A weekly timesheet review routine for small teams

A little attention during the week can make the final handoff less rushed.

Check open shifts during the week

Look for incomplete entries while the employee still remembers the day. Avoid automatically closing a shift at the scheduled end time.

Review corrections in a consistent place

Use a documented request channel and a named reviewer. Keep sensitive records out of a company-wide group chat.

Check boundary cases

Pay attention to overnight work, overlapping entries, breaks and records outside the selected period. Do not let a neat total hide an incomplete record.

Approve after questions are settled

Approval should mean that someone has performed the review. It should not be an automatic action taken just because a pay-period deadline arrived.

Keep a small checklist

Write down the handful of checks that matter for your company. A repeatable checklist is more useful than a one-off promise to be more careful next time.
